History of the Destin Library |
 |
| As so many of our Florida libraries, Destin Library had humble beginnings. It was started in 1940 as a voluntary enterprise and continued as such until 1989 when the City of Destin took over operations and funding. During its early years, the library grew from a one room location in a church to a 5,000 square foot free-standing building on Stahlman Avenue (now home of the Destin History and Fishing Museum.) In March of 2003, the current 13,000 square foot building on Sibert Avenue opened its doors. Along with a 43,000 materials collection, the library offers 24 public access computers and 2 meeting rooms.
