INTERNET USERS POLICY
The Okaloosa County Public Library Cooperative and member libraries
are pleased to provide a wide variety of computing and network resources
for our patrons. Through these resources you will be able to access
a vast array of information.
DISCLAIMER
In an effort to fulfill our mission OCPLC provides access
to the resources of the Internet. Library users of the Internet
are reminded of the following:
- Resources available on the Internet may not be accurate, complete,
current or acceptable to all users.
- The Library is not responsible for any information that users
access via the Internet.
- It is not possible for the library to limit or control the information
found on the Internet. While a "filter" may be in place
on Internet terminals, such devices are not guaranteed to block
all potentially offensive material. Only parents or guardians
are responsible for the Internet information selected and accessed
by their children.
- Materials on the library computer may be subject to copyright
laws, U.S. Code.
In addition, The Okaloosa County Public Library Governing
Board has adopted the following policies.
- Customers have a limit of one (1) hour on the computers when
others are waiting.
- Patrons may print according to individual library policies.
- Customers are asked to consider that the Library computer is
located in a public area which must be shared by library customers
of all ages, backgrounds and sensibilities. Use of the library
terminals for viewing or disseminating illegal images is not permitted.
- It is recommended that parents monitor all Internet use.
- Unauthorized access to the Library's computers, databases, network
or software/hardware settings and/or any damage to these resources
is prohibited.
- As with any other library activity, noisy or disruptive behavior
while using the computers will not be allowed.
- Intentional disruption of the operation of the computer systems
is a violation of Florida state law and users may be held responsible.
Failure to comply with these policies may result in loss
of library privileges in addition to any appropriate legal action,
including criminal prosecution.
Although library staff members are able to offer searching suggestions
and answer some questions, they cannot provide in-depth training
on Internet and personal computer use.
